Mrs. Lily H. Middleton Dies; Services Are Set

   Mrs. Lily H. Middleton, 82, Harlan, died Sunday in Harlan Appalachian Hospital after a brief illness.

   Mrs. Middleton, a native of the county, and member of a well known family, became ill Saturday and was admitted to the hospital.

   She was a member of the Harlan Chapter Order of Eastern Star.

   Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Elm Street Church of Christ with Dr. Thomas D. Prewitt officiating. Burial will be in the Resthaven Cemetery.

   She is survived by four children, Merle H. Middleton, Edwin R. Middleton, and Logan Middleton, all of Harlan, and Mrs. Mable Scott, Evarts, Evarts. Ten grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren also survive.

   The family will receive friends in the chapel of Harlan Funeral Home today from 7 to 10 p.m.

   Active pallbears will be John Brown of Middlesboro, Guy Noe, Hugh Hall, William (Bill) Forester, Cam Smith, Morgan Miller, W.R. Lint and Lyle Fleenor.

   Honorary pallbears are Wilse Stewart, Taylor Forester, Clark Smith, Dr. P.J. Begley, Dr. H.K. Buttermore, Ben Middleton, Dewey Blanton, Sherman Poore, Josiah Creech, Wannamaker Turner, Nick Johnson, Harold Middleton, Rondal Middleton, Howard Middleton, Lawrence McCreary, Marvin McCreary, Raymond Fuson, John Turner, Milford Napier, Eugene Clark, Bruce Cawood, Jr., and James A. Cawood.

   V.T.C. buses will not operate between the hours of 1 and 4 p.m. tomorrow on account of the funeral of Mrs. Lily H. Middleton, mother of the president of the firm, it was announced today.

   Buses will leave Harlan at 11 a.m. for the last run until 4 p.m., Merle Middleton said.
