Howard Skidmore
Howard Skidmore, 77, Cranks, died May 1, 2003, at Harlan Appalachian Regional
Hospital.
He was a retired coal miner and a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during
WWII.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Burham and Elizabeth Browning Skidmore;
four brothers: Louie Skidmore, Wilder Skidmore, Claude Skidmore and Marvin
“Monk” Skidmore; and two sisters: Viola Barton and Laura Manning.
Survivors include one brother, Danny Barton, Ind.; three
sisters: Lydia Costello and husband, Herman, Mich., Emily Hembree, Wallins, and
Francis Williams, Jonesville, Va.; two sister-in-laws: Eulalah Skidmore and
Irene Skidmore, both of Cranks; two special nieces: Cathy Spurlock and Vilene
Herrell; two special nephews: Wesley Skidmore and Scott Skidmore; and several
other nieces nephews, relatives and friends also survive.
Visitation will be held today from 5 to 7 p.m. in the chapel
of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held today at 7 p.m. at the funeral
home with the Rev. Jeff Farmer officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. at
Browning Cemetery, Cranks.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Mount Pleasant Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
