HARLAN COUNTY MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER IN WOMAN'S DEATH
    A Harlan County man was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a 27-year-old woman, state police said.
    George Grubbs, 37, was charged in the death of Nancy Garrett, also known as Nancy Garrett Noe, of Cawood, state police and Harlan County Coroner Ray Venable said.
    Ms. Garrett was shot Tuesday with a .38-caliber pistol. She died at the Grubbs home on Stillhouse Branch Road, eight miles south of Harlan, police said.
    The shooting occurred at 5:34 p.m.
    No motive had been established in the shooting, police said.
    Ms. Garrett was the daughter of Dan and Wilma Garrett of Cranks. She is also survived by a daughter, Cynthia Ann Garrett.
    Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cranks Holiness Church in Harlan County. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home in Harlan.
