BLANTON GETS 14 YEARS FOR KILLING BRITTON

The Trial of Jess Blanton for killing James Britton ended Saturday when the trial jury brought in a verdict of fourteen years to the penitentiary for the defendant.

No appeal is probable. The convicted man was defended by a brilliant array of counsel.

The slayer and the slain were young man and both taxi drivers. They quarreled at the corner of Central and First streets where taxi drivers park their automobiles and Blanton shot Britton who died of his wound the next day in a local hospital. At first the pistol shot wound Britton received was not considered dangerous. The date of the tragedy was the 18th of October in the evening of that day.
