    Tony Brewer Sr., 47, Kenvir, died Jan. 9, 2006, at his home following a long battle with cancer.
    He was an active member of River Ridge Baptist Church and was a former member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he served as deacon and worked with the youth. Brewer drove the church bus for many years.
    He served in the U.S. Navy from 1977 to 1983 and was employed at Carroll Engineering for 22 years where he worked as an electronic technician.
    He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Elmer Couch; grandparents: Hiram and Annie Brewer; uncles: Wilburn Brewer, Harold Brewer and Marvin Brewer; and father- and mother-in-law, Silas and Inez Whitehead.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki Whitehead Brewer; his mother, Loretta Couch, Kildav; two sons: Tony "T.J." Brewer Jr. and Christopher Brewer, both of Kenvir; a nephew, Kevin Couch, who is serving in Iraq; brothers: Doug Couch and wife, Pat, Tazewell, Tenn.; Tommy Brewer and wife, Robin, Detroit; and Bobby Couch and wife, Pat, Evarts; sisters: Judy Simpson and husband, Robert, Cranks, and Stephanie Couch, Beech Fork; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Debra Petra and husband, Mike, Kenvir; Patty Simpson and husband, Jack, Sawbriar; Teresa (Jenny) Whitehead, Kenvir; Tina King and husband, Jason, Redbud; Ronnie Whitehead and wife, Jennie, Kenvir; Silas Whitehead and wife, Kristi, Cumberland; and Hope Day and husband, Bobby, Kenvir; and a host of special nieces and nephews.
    Visitation will be held today from 4 p.m. to midnight at Victory Baptist Church.
    Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Bill Moore and the Rev. Jonathan Grills officiating.
    Burial will follow at Evarts Memorial Gardens with military rites performed by the Harlan Honor Guard.
    Pallbearers will be family, friends and co-workers of Carroll Engineering. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Brewer’s gym.
    Evarts Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
