    Opal Lee Swanson, 71, Cawood, died Sept. 8, 2004, at her home.
    A native of Coalgood, she was a homemaker.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Ethel McQueen; one grandson, Paul Wayne Swanson; three brothers: Orville, Walter and James McQueen; and two sisters: Sophie and Ollie McQueen.
    Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Franklin “Green” Swanson, Cawood; seven children: Franklin Swanson Jr., and wife, Rita, Gulston; Angelina Grubbs and husband, Lee Robert, Cawood; Patricia Reeves and husband, Donnie, Cawood; Rachel Swanson, Cawood; Paul "Pete" Swanson and wife, Mildred, Cawood; Louveda Hensley and husband, Denny, Gulston; and Russell Swanson and girlfriend, Suzie Earls, Cawood; 11 grandchildren: Franklin Swanson and wife, Kelly, LaFollette, Tenn.; Jason Swanson, Williamsburg; Jacqueline Grubbs and Lee Robert Grubbs II, Cawood; Donnie Ray Reeves and wife, Tiffanie, Kenvir; Christina Begley and husband, Jason, Somerset; Josh Reeves, Cawood; Opal Caldwell and husband, John, Morristown, Tenn.; Mikie Swanson, Cawood; John and Christopher Hensley, Lexington; five great-grandchildren: James Perry Begley, Mason and Abey Reeves; Kevin Caldwell, Destiny Swanson and one expected great-grandchild; two brothers: George "Buddy" McQueen and Edward "David" McQueen, both of Shields; seven sisters: Carolyn Gayle Begley and Helen Mullins, both of Shields; Cecelia Ann Shifflet and Shirley Bowling, both of Hamilton, Ohio; Martha Gray, Grays; Wanda Faye Rogers, Texas; and Carrie Sue Stanton, Wilmington N.C.; special niece, Joyce Osborne; and several other nieces and nephews.
    Visitation is Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
    Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Farmer officiating.
    Burial will follow in the Swanson Cemetery in Cawood.
    Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
    Mount Pleasant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
