Merle Hall

 

   Merle Roland Hall, 75, Cawood, died Aug. 6, 2002, at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital.

   A native of Cawood, Hall was a retired steelworker from Cornell Forge Company.

   He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II and was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.

   He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Hall and Molly Stepp Hall; two sons: Benny Lee Hall and Bobby Ray Hall; one brother Curtis Hall; three half-brothers, Verlan Burkhart, Bill Hall, and Virgil Burkhart and one half-sister, Cora Lee.

   Survivors include wife Beulah Hall, Cawood; four children: Merle Edward Hall and wife, Patricia, Sandwich, Ill.; James Lewis Hall and wife, Belva, Palmer, Alaska; Linda Jalowiec and husband, James, Chicago; Carolyn Hall, Altamont, Tenn.; one brother, Hunter Hall, Miamisburg, Ohio; 11 grandchildren: Kami Hall, Evan Hall, Erik Hall,, all of Sandwich, Ill.; David Hall, Tony Hall and Kyle Hall, all of Palmer, Alaska; Gillian Jalowiec and Takara Jalowiec, Nicole Gutierrez and Emanuel Gutierrez, all of Altamont, Tenn.; and two great-grandchildren Joshua Sliwinski and Emily Sliwinski, both of Chicago; and two best friends, Verdan Perkins and Bill Howard, both of Cawood.

   Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at the Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Craig officiating.

   Burial will follow in the Browning Cemetery at Cranks.

   Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

   Mount Pleasant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
